CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is gentle, hands-on bodywork that aims to release tension and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord. Practitioners use light touch to manipulate the skull, spine, and pelvis, to alleviate pain and discomfort, enhance relaxation, and promote overall well-being.
CST has shown promise in helping with migraines, tension headaches, chronic neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, fibromyalgia, stress-related disorders, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and post surgical dysfunction.
CST is done on a massage table and clients remain fully clothed. Your therapist will use light touch to listen, evaluate and make subtle adjustments related to the craniosacral system, skeletal system, fascia and lymphatics. Common expressions of release that occur during CST sessions are twitching, eye movement, changes in breathing, warmth, tingling, pulsing sensations, and gurgling in the belly. CST is deeply relaxing and soothing to the nervous system.
